Ebenezer Karikari, the young man seen in the widely circulated video being assaulted by his alleged, Nana Yaa, has spoken for the first time about the incident and why he chose not to retaliate.
Speaking to Crime Check, the 32-year-old musician, who plays with a band in Nkawie in the Ashanti Region, revealed that he refrained from defending himself because the attack happened on a Friday.
According to him he feared that any attempt to protect himself might escalate the situation and land him in police custody throughout the weekend.
According to Ebenezer, the assault was far more brutal than what the viral footage captured.
He said Nana Yaa did not only slap him with her bare hands and slippers but also hit him with a piece of concrete block.
The altercation, he explained, stemmed from a misunderstanding involving a mobile phone.

Ebenezer said Nana Yaa, who works as a vendor at a galamsey site at Tepa, had complained that her phone was faulty.
In response, he asked her to contact one of his friends in Nkawie to secure a replacement phone on credit.
However, when she travelled to Nkawie to meet the friend, she reportedly did not find him.
Upset by the inconvenience, she confronted Ebenezer at his home and launched the physical attack — despite having earlier taken GHC 400 from him for transportation, a sum he says he borrowed to assist her.
The disturbing incident has sparked outrage online, with many calling for authorities to intervene. As the video continues to circulate, pressure is mounting for justice and better protection for victims of domestic violence, regardless of gender.
