VIDEO: NPP women weep and curse MPs for betraying Akufo-Addo to vote Bagbin as Speaker

In the video sighted by chillxone.com, two ladies, one in white and one in NPP paraphernalia, are spotted expressing their displeasure at their MPs.

Their displeasure stems from the emergence of NDC’s Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin as the Speaker of Parliament.

Bagbin who was nominated by the NDC side of the house got the nod over the immediate-past Speaker, Professor Aaron Mike Ocquaye.

In a vote marred by many altercations, Bagbin polled 138 votes against Ocquayes 136 with one vote being declared as spoilt. The election of Bagbin came as a surprise as Ocquaye had been thought to be the favourite since he was nominated by the NPP side.

The NPP had counted on independent MP, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, to break the tie between them and the NDC. But after voting, it turned out that some of the party’s MPs had voted for their opponents’ nominee.

For the two women in the video, the vote for Bagbin meant the party’s MPs had betrayed President Akufo-Addo and the NPP. In their response to his betrayal, the NPP ladies who were left in tears over the matter rained indirect curses on the MPs while praising Akufo-Addo and the party’s executives.
