It is reported that Lance Corporal Akwasi Boateng and Stephen Kyeremeh were actually prt of a 4 member teams of police officers who were returning from across the river at Korbro inthe Ashanti Region after pursuing some suspected criminals in the area when the canoe carrying them about their pursuit capsized.
These criminals were reported to have crossed the river to the other side during the hot pursuit and guess what, the officers also decided to cross the river all in the name of fulfilling their duty which is arresting these hardened criminals at all cost. Two of the police officers were able to swim out to safety but the other two could not be found until today.
