Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has taken a swipe at Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa following the U.S. government’s recent decision to reduce the validity of Ghanaian business, tourism, and student visas to a single entry valid for just three months.
In a post shared on X, the actor blamed the minister’s lack of diplomatic tact and emotional intelligence for what he described as a “diplomatic misstep with real consequences.”
According to Prince David Osei, the minister’s recent response to concerns raised by the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee was dismissive and defensive, worsening Ghana’s diplomatic standing. “His remarks—particularly the assertion that he personally did not incur debt—missed the broader point,” he wrote, stressing that diplomacy requires “tact, humility, and strategic communication.”
The actor called for a recalibration of Ghana’s foreign policy approach, urging government officials to prioritize citizen impact and avoid contradictions in public messaging. He concluded with a call to restore confidence in Ghana’s diplomacy, stating: “Let this be a moment of reflection—and a turning point toward more thoughtful, citizen-centered diplomacy.” His comments have since sparked heated reactions online.
