Bayern Munich travelled to face Schalke for their final Bundesliga match of 2022 and picked up three points after a 2-0 win.
Scorers: Gnabry 38′, Choupo-Moting 52′
Bayern Munich looked to extend their lead at the top of the table and had to dig deep to do so against Schalke.
The first 45 minutes was an uninspiring performance from the Bundesliga giants with 10 shots but only one on target despite 70% possession.
In addition to the poor finishing, Schalke did everything they could to keep things 0-0 and desperate defending frustrated the visitors.
That was until Jamal Musiala finally found his magical touch.
The 19-year-old became the first teenager to make 100 appearances for Bayern and pulled the strings on the pitch to help Julian Nagelsmann’s side walk away smiling.
His back-heel pass teed up Serge Gnabery for 1-0 before he sent the ball through to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting who doubled things after the break.
Later, Musiala thought he had added a third only to see the goal ruled out and the match ended 2-0.
Another quick story from within the match saw Leroy Sané’s younger brother Sidi Sané make his Bundesliga debut for Schalke though the elder Sané was already off the pitch.
In the end, the result means Bayern are six points clear at the top ahead of Union Berlin’s game.
