A marriage dispute involving a Nigerian couple has sparked heated debate on social media after reports emerged that a man allegedly lured his wife back from Australia under false pretences, only to abandon her and declare he’s no longer interested in the marriage over childbirth dispute.
According to accounts circulating online, the husband convinced his wife who was also living in Australia with him to travel to Nigeria under the claim that his parents were celebrating an anniversary and wanted her presence.
Upon her arrival in Nigeria, the situation reportedly took a dramatic turn.
Sources claim the man confiscated his wife’s personal documents and mobile phone shortly after they arrived.
He returned to Australia afterwards, leaving her stranded in Nigeria. Not long after, his family moved to formally return her dowry to officially announce the end of the marriage.
The core of the dispute is said to be a disagreement over pregnancy and childbirth. The wife, who married her husband in 2022 and relocated abroad in 2024, insists that she does not wish to carry a pregnancy herself and prefers the option of surrogacy.
She is said to have maintained that it is her body and that no one should force her into pregnancy against her will.
On the other hand, the husband has taken a firm stance, stating that if his wife is unwilling to carry a pregnancy, then the marriage cannot continue.
According to him, he would rather end the union and find a partner who is willing to “be a wife” and bear children naturally.
