Ghanaian music diva Gyakie has revealed that Omar Sterling, known in real life as Faisal Hakeem and a member of the renowned music group R2Bees, holds the top spot as her favourite rapper from Ghana.
Speaking in an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, the “Forever” hitmaker expressed deep admiration for Omar Sterling’s lyrical prowess and storytelling style.
“My favourite rapper in Ghana now is Omar Sterling of R2Bees. He’s always been. Yes, he’s my all-time favourite Ghanaian rapper,” she said.
According to Gyakie, what sets Omar Sterling apart is his poetic style and ability to weave real-life experiences into his lyrics.
“Omar Sterling is a poet. I always say that his rap is always different. The storytelling—he shares stories about his life or things happening in real time, and the way he puts the lyrics together helps the listener understand what he is saying. That always makes me very happy. I think he’s a very good writer and storyteller,” she noted.
She also highlighted that her unique sound is shaped by the variety of music she was exposed to while growing up, which influences the diverse elements in her artistry.
Gyakie is currently promoting her latest single titled Sankofa, a teaser for her forthcoming debut album, After Midnight
