GPHA security and Immigration officers clash at Tema Port [Video]
A serious altercation erupted between the security of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) ended up in a clash.
A video available to chillxone.com captured the tense moments between the two groups at the Ghana Port Security and immigration service.
Information gathered indicates that a group of about 12 GPHA security members, at Meridian Port Services (MPS), allegedly barged into the GIS office at MPS to apprehend two officers after a disagreement during standard vessel checks on the MSC DYMPHNA.
It is reported that a dispute arose when GPHA security personnel insisted on searching the immigration officers after they had completed their inspection duties at the Tema Port.
However, one Inspector made it clear that they could search their bags but rejected their request to search the individual officers because he claimed under no circumstance should a male search a female officer.
The objection sparked a verbal confrontation between the two groups, escalating into physical altercations and resulting in the uniform of one officer, identified as AICO II Boadu, being torn.
Authorities have stated that the incident is currently under investigation.
