Electoral Commission rejects NDC’s call for forensic audit of voters register
The Electoral Commission has rejected the call by the National Democratic Congress, NDC for a forensic audit of the voters register.
This follows a nationwide demonstration by the NDC, dubbed ‘Enough is Enough,’ which called for corrections to discrepancies in the provisional register and a forensic audit of the EC’s IT system.
Against this backdrop, the Commission has rejected the request by the NDC saying the existing legal and administrative mechanisms for correcting mistakes in the voters register has not been exhausted.
The EC has also assured the NDC that it will re-exhibit the corrected Provisional Voters Register (PVR) online before the final version is printed for the 2024 General Elections.

In response, the EC acknowledged the concerns and clarified its stance on re-exhibiting the PVR.
According to the commission in a statement issued today, September 26,2024, while it is not opposed to a physical exhibition at all 40,000+ centres, it cited the time constraints, noting that it would take around four weeks to print and distribute the corrected register, making it unfeasible with the election date approaching.
They stated that “The Commission intends to implement an Online Exhibition of the PVR at no cost to Registered Voters. Voters will be able to report on anomalies with their details within a time frame to be made available to the Public. The Voters Register will be displayed Online until the Election Day.”
