So, now that’s out of the way, what are the storylines to look out for?
😭 Real Madrid’s Ronaldo reunion?

They had some wonderful times together.
But after parting ways three years ago, Cristiano Ronaldo could be facing his former partner – for the very first time – alongside his new flame.
It may not happen at all with Juventus and Real Madrid both currently trailing their last-16 clashes. But think of the narrative!
We could have smiles with Marcelo, accidental walks into the wrong dressing room and even better – non-celebrations after scoring.
Imagine the scenes if Ronaldo knocks Madrid out of the Champions League, after winning everything there is to win with them.
We’re giddy just thinking about it.
💭 Dreams can come true

Despite the consecutive Premier League titles, top-flight points record and domestic domination with Bayern Munich – Pep Guardiola is clearly still desperate for Champions League glory.
He last won the competition with his all-conquering Barcelona side in 2011 and has failed to reach a final since.
There have been miserable defeats against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Monaco, not to mention his overthinking of tactics and bizarre team selections.
Manchester City were drawn into the ‘harder side’ of the tournament tree, but they have a clean bill of health and are scoring freely post-lockdown.
Will there be a better opportunity for Pep to find his golden goose?
💥 Will history repeat itself?

Bayern Munich look good, don’t they? And for all the big clubs still involved until now – the Bavarian outfit will surely be considered favourites?
Being in this situation looked impossible after their shocking start under Niko Kovač, but Hansi Flick has done a great job steadying the ship and putting them on a jet-ski.
Bayern ran away with the Bundesliga post lockdown. They barely broke sweat to win the DFB Pokal.
And now with proper time to rest ahead of their second-leg clash with Chelsea, we’re expecting a different animal.
They won the treble in 2012/13 and were clearly the best team in Europe. Will history repeat itself?
🤩 The underdog story

We’re putting our hopes and dreams on Atalanta winning the Champions League – and there’s nothing you can do about it.
The boys from Bergamo are on fire this season, pushing Lazio for second place in Serie A having scored a monstrous 101 goals across all competitions.
Everyone knows how good Paris Saint-Germain can be with players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappé on top form, but five months without competitive football could hurt them.
Should Atalanta progress, either RB Leipzig or Atlético Madrid await them in the semi-final and surely you would back them there?
It’s happening. You might as well start engraving their name on the trophy.
