Ronaldo, Messi, Bican: The 10 highest goalscorers in football history

Cristiano Ronaldo made history against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

Manchester United‘s talisman scored a magnificent hat-trick in a 3-2 victory against the north London outfit, the 805th, 806th and 807th goals of his amazing professional career.

The latter two of the three goals mean he’s now overtaken the legendary Josef Bican as the leading scorer in the history of men’s professional football.

That’s right, no one – yes, no one – has found the back of the net more times than Ronaldo, which is just mind-boggling really.

And despite the fact he turned 37 years of age back in February, the Portugal international’s pristine physical condition means he will likely still be scoring goals for many more years to come.

So after Ronaldo’s record-breaking performance versus Spurs, we feel it’s only right to provide you with the top 10 goalscorers in football history, just to further highlight the absurdity of his numbers.

So, let’s have a look…

What an incredible achievement by Ronaldo.

Unless Messi rediscovers his scoring touch at Paris Saint-Germain in the near future, his eternal rival’s place at the top of the pile will likely be safe for many, many years to come.

The question is; can Ronaldo hit the 850-mark before hanging up his boots for good? You’d be an absolute fool to bet against that happening.
