Ramsey Nouah’s role in ‘A Country Called Ghana’ movie belonged to me- Van Vicker
The light-skinned Ghanaian actor said he was originally cast to play the lead role in the movie which was eventually handed to Ramsey Nouah from Nigeria
Van said that the director of the movie Fiifi Garbin and the producer Lilwin approached him and gave him an offer for the movie and the starring role.
Van stated that they initially requested a month-long filming schedule, but he declined owing to his schooling obligations and inability to commit to such a long period on set.
Instead, Van proposed finishing his scenes in just ten days to ensure a high-quality result, but Fiifi never answered and finally cast Ramsey Nouah and other Nigerian actors in the film.
To Van’s surprise, Ramsey also finished filming his part in just ten days, leaving him puzzled by the situation.
“As a matter of fact, Fii Frank Garbin called me and said he wants me to play the role Ramsey played in that movie. So I wanted to know when are we shooting because I was in school. He got back and said the producer says they need me for one month.
“I said one month is too much What are we filming? You should know that with actors, the more days you require, the more fees I will charge so the earlier you finish the better. So you need me for one month; are you sure you can pay me for one full month? So I told him for one month I can’t do the work because I’m in school.
“I told him what I could do was ten days, and if he could do ten days then I would do the work. Later he said the ten days won’t work. Can you believe that later I saw that Ramsey came to do the work. I was tracking the job and can you believe Ramsey used ten days to do the job?
“I didn’t say I wasn’t going to do the work at all. I gave a counter-proposal. Even if he had come to negotiate an improvement on the days he could have reached an agreement, the person they brought also did 10 days,” he said.
