NIGERIA – A disturbing video circulating on social media shows a young woman being publicly flogged by a group of older women in her community.
In the footage, the young lady is seen receiving lashes as several elderly women took turns to discipline her for repeatedly disrespecting her brother’s wife.
The video, which has since gone viral, has drawn mixed reactions from social media users, many of whom have condemned the act as excessive and abusive.
According to commentary accompanying the video, the incident followed a prolonged family dispute.
The young woman is alleged to have openly boasted that she would continue disrespecting her brother’s wife without facing any consequences.
It is further claimed that when her brother’s wife reported the matter to elderly women in the community for mediation, the young lady insulted them and also described the older women as “useless.”
Sources claim the public punishment was carried out as a form of traditional discipline. Reports indicate that the young woman allegedly received more than 200 lashes before she was eventually released.
The incident has ignited widespread criticism online, with many users questioning the legality and morality of such punishment in modern society.
