A new theory has emerged regarding the tragic death of Joana, a level 400 student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), with CCTV footage revealing her boyfriend, Daniel, as the prime suspect.
According to reports, Joana and Daniel had been in a turbulent relationship, frequently seeking help from the KNUST Counselling Centre. Despite warnings from Joana’s father to separate, Daniel was reportedly obsessed with her. A friend also disclosed that Joana had confided in her about being physically assaulted by Daniel but had forgiven him.
On the night of the incident, the couple was returning from studying at the Biological Sciences Library when a heated argument ensued. In a shocking turn of events, Daniel allegedly lost control, pushed Joana to the ground, and strangled her using his knee. Realising his actions, he attempted to stage the scene and later sat beside her lifeless body before leaving.
Surveillance footage captured Daniel disposing of Joana’s laptop and returning to campus the next morning to write his exams in the same shirt he wore during the crime. A teaching assistant later identified him, leading to his arrest.
Daniel appeared before the Asafo Court yesterday and has been remanded, with his final hearing set for March 17, 2025.
