Karim Benzema found guilty and sentenced in Mathieu Valbuena case

Karim Benzema has been found guilt of being complicit in the attempted blackmail of former France team-mate Mathieu Valbuena, a French court has ruled.
The president of the criminal court of Versailles announced the verdict on Wednesday.
Benzema had been accused of suggesting Valbuena should pay blackmailers who threatened to reveal a private video.
The Real Madrid striker has been handed a one-year suspended prison sentence and a €75,000 fine.
Benzema’s lawyers have said they intend to appeal against the verdict.
