Dream Advice from Shatta Wale Made Me Cut Down Music Travels – Darkovibes

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Paul Nii Amu Andrew Darko, known in the music scene as Darkovibes, has shared how a dream involving dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale influenced the way he now approaches his music career, particularly his frequent travels outside the country.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Kumasi-based Angel FM, Darkovibes explained that the dream occurred at a time when he was constantly travelling abroad in an effort to promote his music on the global stage. According to him, Shatta Wale appeared in the dream and advised him to slow down on international exposure and concentrate on strengthening his local fan base.

“Every year around this time, we try to export Ghana music to the world with travelling, but for the past two to three years, I had a dream where Shatta told me I travel too much and that I should stay in the country and focus on pushing my songs locally and focusing on his fans,” Darkovibes said.

He noted that what stood out most about the experience was the fact that the advice was not unfamiliar. The singer revealed that Shatta Wale had already shared similar counsel with him in real life, either personally or through other people, even before the dream occurred.

“I swear on my dead parents, he had already told me in person and even sent the message through other people, so I was shocked when he still came to tell me again in my dream,” he added.

Although Darkovibes has not directly discussed the dream with Shatta Wale, he said he shared the experience with some industry professionals and reflected deeply on its meaning.

Since then, the musician disclosed that he has consciously reduced his travelling and redirected his energy toward performing and engaging fans within Ghana, stressing the importance of building a strong local foundation before pursuing wider international opportunities.

The ‘Je m’appelle’  hitmaker also expressed appreciation for industry elders who have played a role in his journey, describing them as vital to his growth and development.

“I’ve always honoured our godfathers; they’ve really done so much for me. Because I never had any support in the industry, the only support I get is from the OGs, so I will never sit somewhere to say I will never acknowledge them,” he stated.
