Black Sherif shares new video for “Oil in my Head”

The afrobeats artist’s debut album, The Villain I Never Was, came out in October of last year.

It’s been a banner year for Black Sherif, riding the high of his debut album, The Villain I Never Was, which came out last year. That record and its single “Kwaku The Traveler” appeared on The FADER’s Best of 2022 lists, and the Ghanaian Afrobeats artist was featured in our GEN F series this past January.

Now, Sherif has shared a video for the non-single track “Oil in my Head.” The opulent visuals deal with the aftermath of fame, showing him caught between shadowy hands, on a cliff surrounded by giant busts of his own head, and trapped in some kind of bunker. It even blends in real footage from the VGMA Awards, where Sherif won Artist of the Year. Watch below.
