Bernard Nyarko: Kumawood actor wanted no visitors while sick – Vivian Jill, Pepe confirm
Kumawood actor Bishop Bernard Nyarko gave explicit orders for his family not to receive any visitors while he was battling illness, YEN.com.gh has gathered.
As earlier reported by chillxone.com, the Kumawood star passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at the Greater Accra (Ridge) Hospital. Bishop Nyarko was on admission for treatment relating to a case of colon cancer he reportedly suffered.
Following the news of his demise, there have been complaints from his colleagues in Kumawood that they had been prevented from seeing him. In a video which circulated on social media on Sunday, May 3, 2020, Big Akwes, in the midst of other Kumawood actors, was heard blaming Bishop Nyarko’s mother for not making them see their colleague. But new information has indicated that it was not Bishop Nyarko’s mother who was preventing her son’s colleagues from seeing him. She was only following instructions.
According to actress Vivian Jill Lawrence and movie producer Pepe, who are known to have been close friends with the late actor, Bishop Nyarko himself did not want to see any visitors. In a telephone interview with Neat FM on Monday, May 4, 2020, Vivian Jill disclosed that she once had cause to call Bishop Nyarko about the matter of visitors and he confirmed that it was his instruction that was being carried out. “It was his own choice. He had his own reason why he did not want anybody to see him. He told me himself and it was not his mother who stopped anybody,” she wrote.

In a separate interview, Pepe who is also known as Prince Badu Ntiamoah of King Jesus Movie Production also confirmed that the ‘no visiting’ instruction was from Bishop Nyarko. Going further, Pepe explained that the instruction was not borne out of any malice against his colleagues but Bishop Nyarko did not look well in his time of sickness and wanted to get better before receiving anybody. “Bishop lost weight and was looking like a 100 years old man.
He decided that he will not allow people to visit him because if people do, his image would have been splashed on social media,” a report chillxone.com sighted on MyNewsgh.com quoted him to have said. He added that it was not only the Kumawood stars who could not see Bishop Nyarko. Some pastors he had worked with were also prevented from seeing him because of the directive. “It was not just Kumawood actors who were not allowed to visit him, even pastors he had worked with in the past were not allowed to visit him,” Pepe reportedly said. Meanwhile, some Kumawood actors have visited the family of Bishop Nyarko following his passing.
