Baba Sadiq Loses Okaikwei Central Seat To NPP’s Patrick Boamah After Court-Ordered Re-Collation

Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has lost his bid to enter Parliament in his first attempt after the final collation of results in the Okaikwei Central constituency. The revised tally declared Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the MP-elect.

Boamah secured 21,099 votes, beating Baba Sadiq, who garnered 19,368 votes, with a victory margin of 1,731. This final declaration followed a High Court directive that required the Electoral Commission to include results from 31 polling stations that had been omitted during the initial count.

The controversy began when Baba Sadiq was initially declared the winner on election day, prompting the NPP to contest the results in court. The High Court then ordered a re-collation of the outstanding polling station results, which ultimately overturned the earlier announcement.

The re-collation affirmed Patrick Boamah’s victory, ensuring the NPP retained control of the Okaikwei Central parliamentary seat.
